The
reality is that bumblebee rearing need not be complicated
and the equipment need not be ultra-sophisticated or
especially expensive. While some choose this route, a
'cottage industry' approach can be equally effective.
It is recognised that McDonalds have got the cost of a
BigMac to such a fine art that a 'BigMac' can be used as a
notional international currency.
Experience shows that rearing hives requires about 1 person
per 1,000 hives distributed with a direct production cost
of 12-15 BigMac's per hive.
