The reality is that bumblebee rearing need not be complicated and the equipment need not be ultra-sophisticated or especially expensive. While some choose this route, a 'cottage industry' approach can be equally effective.

Experience shows that rearing hives requires about 1 person per 1,000 hives distributed with a direct production cost of 12-15 BigMac's per hive.
