| George Vancouver led a British survey expedition to the Northwest Coast of America. Leaving Britain in 1791, Vancouver was on the American coast from 1792 to 1794 before returning to Britain in 1795. Unfortunately, Vancouver was already a sick man and he died in 1798. |
