New Zealand Gaming Conventions

This is a list of all the NZ gaming conventions that I know about, organised by date. Where possible I've included a short blurb, attendance and price information, and contact details for 'con organisers.

Buckets Of Dice

City: Christchurch.
Hosted By: SAGA (No, it doesn't stand for anything)
When: July 7th - 9th.
Where: Christchurch Music Centre
Structure: Two slots per day, plus evening LARP and Grand Strategy.
Attendence: 70+
Cost: $15 pre-registered ($12 to SAGA members); $5/session on the day.

Notes: BoD has been run since at least 1995, and has traditionally focussed on systemless roleplaying and LARP.

AMERICA's Cup

City: Auckland
Hosted by: A.M.E.R.I.C.A.
When: July 15th - 16th, 2006
Where: Commerce A, University of Auckland.
Structure: 4 4-hr sessions, plus a live game and a prizegiving dinner.
Attendence: 20 - 30.
Cost: $25 for the whole weekend, with a $5 discount for A.M.E.R.I.C.A. members.

Notes: A 4-session tournament con, offering systemless roleplaying.

CONFusion

City: Wellington
Hosted by: WARGS (Wellington Area Roleplaying Game Society).
When: August 12th.
Where: Turnbull House, opposite the Beehive, Wellington
Structure: Three 3-hour sessions.
Attendence: 25-40.
Cost: Players $15, GMs $10.
Contact: Nasia.
Notes: A one-day MiniCon, which has run since 2003.
Last Ran: 2005.

KapCon XVI: The Flight of the Hindenburg

City: Wellington
When: January 20th - 21st (Wellington anniversary weekend) 2007.
Where: Wellington High School (same as last year).
Structure: Three 3-hour slots daily, plus a LARP on saturday evening.
Attendence: 100+ (110 in 2006).
Cost: $15 for GMs, $20 for players, +$5 if you pay on the day. LARP-only is $5, with no late fees.

Notes: Wellington's annual roleplaying convention. A wide variety of games are run, from arty systemless games to hack n' slash D&D. Prizes awarded for roleplaying, GMing and anything else amusing. Also runs an annual scenario design competition.
Last Ran: January 21st - 22nd (Wellington anniversary weekend), 2006.

Battlecry

City: Auckland
Hosted by: A.M.E.R.I.C.A.
When: Sometime in January or February.
Where: Usually Auckland University.
Structure: A mixed con, with wargaming, CCGs and roleplaying.
Attendence: Unknown

Notes: Auckland's other regular con.
