New Victoria Naval Architects, LIC
A member of the Imperial Ship-Builder's Association.
Headquarted on New Victoria Orbital in the Capital/Core (2118)
system, New Victoria Naval Architects, LIC, was founded in 05
Imperial by members of the Navy's Iirikdush design bureau.
While their first design, the T-300 Far Trader, was less than
successful, the company soon achieved commercial success when their
Condottieri-class Mercenary Cruiser was rated highly in the
ISBA's prestigious THUDDD
competition. Since then NVNA has continued to design high-quality
starships for both military and civilan markets.
Design Philosophy
NVNA's design philosphy is heavily influenced by its military
origins. Instead of loading a ship with chrome, NVNA is dedicated to
producing the simplest and cheapest design which fits the
specification. Critics have accused the resulting vessels of being
"bland", but it is the company's opinion that if customers wanted high
acceleration and a spinal mount PAW on their Bulk Cargo Transport,
they would ask for it.
Construction
As a naval architecture firm, NVNA possess no shipyard facilities of
its own. Most designs (e.g. those for the Imperial Navy) are
produced for the client, who is responsible for construction.
Commercial designs are usually liscenced to a dedicated shipbuilding
company. For example, NVNA's most popular and successful design, the
Condottieri-class Mercenary Cruiser, is produced by the GsbAG
conglomerate under liscence.
